How do I touch up paint so it does not show?
Fill nail holes, sand them flush, spot-prime any bare patch, then touch up with the same paint. Touch-ups can show if the old paint has faded or the sheen differs. When they do, painting the wall from corner to corner gives the most even finish.
How it is usually fixed
- Clean scuffs and dust so the new paint bonds.
- Fill nail and screw holes with spackle, let it dry and sand it flush.
- Spot-prime repaired patches so they do not soak up the finish coat differently.
- Dab the touch-up paint on with a small brush or roller, feathering the edges.
- If the patch still shows after drying, repaint the whole wall edge to edge.
When it is not a handyman job
Full-room and whole-house painting is a different kind of job. Ask us and we will say whether it fits.
Plumbing, electrical and roofing go to licensed independent contractors.
What we do on a visit

Common questions
Why does my touch-up look different from the rest of the wall?
Paint fades over time, and the sheen can differ between a fresh coat and an old one. Painting the whole wall corner to corner hides the difference.
Do I need to have the exact paint?
It helps. If you have leftover paint, keep the can, since the label shows the color and sheen. If not, send a photo of the wall or a small chip. Matching an older, faded color is not always exact, which is why some jobs need a full wall repainted.
Can you paint just one wall, a door or trim?
Often, yes. Small painting jobs such as a single wall, a door, baseboards or trim fit a handyman visit. Whole rooms or a whole house are a different scale of job. Send photos and we will tell you if it fits.
Can you touch up a rental unit between tenants?
Yes, small turnover touch-ups fit our work. That includes filling nail holes, spot-priming and painting scuffs, trim and baseboards. Bigger jobs, such as repainting every room, may not. Send photos and your timeline and we will say what we can take on.
